2. Los Angeles Zoo 50th Anniversary Beastly Ball Features Rock Legend Slash in Concert

The L.A. Zoo, a trusted leader in animal conservation, is holding The Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association's (GLAZA) annual BEASTLY BALL featuring the legendary guitarist and noted wildlife advocate Slash in an exclusive live concert backed by Jimmy Vivino and The Basic Cable Band. Beastly Ball guests are to dress in "safari casual" attire as you stroll through the Zoo during a rare after-hours visit watching its inhabitants, interacting with keepers, and just simply enjoying the party and the sumptuous meals provided by some of L.A.'s most popular restaurants.

3. Lights, Camera, WriteGirl

Get a chance to get a close glimpse of famous actors like Wendi McLendon-Covey from The Goldberg's, Keiko Agena from Gilmore Girls and Edi Gathegi of the movie Twilight.  The event also features a show of performed skits and monolog authored by WriteGirl teens mentored from the program. A fun night for a good cause.

4. Jeffrey Kahane's Last Program as Los Angeles Chamber Orch Music Director World Premiere

7. An Exhibit Like No Other - The Orbit Pavilion

The Jet Propulsion Library and NASA come together to create this one of a kind exhibit that will play you a unique symphony of sounds from ocean waves crashing down on the shore to animals of all kinds, all linked to the movement of satellites. The Pavilion itself is a sight to behold, built with aluminum walls formed to a nautilus-shell-shaped structure, one experience you can say now is only in LA.

8. Descanso Garden's Rose Festival

What's in a rose? What's in a bed of roses? What's a wonderful day filled with roses, cello music, and flowery art?  It's a blooming day the family can enjoy together, where you can get artsy and enjoy the full bloom of roses at the Descanso Garden's Rose Festival happening this weekend at  Descanso Gardens.

9. Quartermania

Where: City of La Habra Community Center 101 W. La Habra Blvd. La Habra

When: May 21, 2017, 1pm-3pm (Doors open at  2:30pm)

The annual Quartermania fundraiser is back for the 2nd time. This event is being hosted by The Museum Guild for the benefit of the The Children's Museum at La Habra's Autism Family Morning program. Bring your quarters, bring your friends, have fun and help out. There will be items to bid on using quarters! These provide children on the spectrum with quieter, less-crowded Museum galleries and include unique activity stations and specialized resources/information for families.

10. Get on Mini-Steamers at Torrence's Wilson Park's Mini-Train Rides.

Go on an old-fashioned train ride as the Southern California Live Steamers have volunteered to hold this event every first Sunday and 3rd Saturday of the month. As you enjoy a mini experience of the past, a little donation would be helpful for the volunteers who have rendered unpaid time to provide this attraction.
